Site Conditions

An existing pier and boathouse workspace built in 1860 located on a island near downtown portland.

Client Program

An adaptive reuse of the existing shell into a three-season coastal residence which maintains the original character while incorporating an open informal great room, bedroom, bath and kitchen.

Design Response

A revised structure with the second floor partially removed and full length dormers added to provide more light and interior spatial relief, with contemporary touches through lighting and exposed structure.
